Job summary

The City of Laredo is seeking a Civil Engineer to review site developments, drainage, roadway plans and traffic controls in coordination with TXDOT and other agencies. You will prepare design plans, cost estimates, and surveying documents under the supervision of a Professional Engineer for City projects.

Required are a Bachelor's degree in Civil or related engineering, EIT certification and Texas driver license, with at least one year of engineering experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering degree.
• EIT certification required and must be maintained for continued employment.
• Experience in civil engineering tasks related to city projects is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates in public meetings and hearings and presents to public and decision-making groups.
• Analyzes traffic safety issues and prepares reports with recommendations.
• Prepares design, cost estimates, specifications and plans for City projects under supervision of a Professional Engineer.
• Uses AUTOCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS and related drafting software for surveying maps and plans.
• Supervises, plans, schedules, and trains subordinates; reviews performance.
