Job summary

City of Lubbock seeks a licensed Professional Engineer to lead Traffic Management, with a strong background in traffic engineering, ITS, budgeting, and capital planning. The role requires supervisory experience and a Texas PE license (or ability to obtain within a year).

The Director will oversee traffic operations, coordinate fiber infrastructure initiatives, and work under the Division Director of Public Works to advance municipal programs and policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (required)
• 8–10 years of progressively responsible experience in traffic management and operations, including supervisory experience
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas or ability to obtain within one year
• Valid Texas Driver’s License (required)

Responsibilities

• Oversee complex traffic engineering, operations, and fiber infrastructure systems.
• Supervise a multidisciplinary technical team and coordinate with public works divisions.
• Report to the Division Director of Public Works and contribute to capital planning and policy development.
