Job summary

The Texas Department of Transportation Fort Worth District is seeking a Geographic Information Specialist I to develop GIS data, maps, and analyses for transportation projects. You will collect GPS data, digitize spatial layers, and support data-driven decisions across the agency.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's in Geography or GIS and are proficient with ESRI ArcGIS; CAD experience is a plus. This full-time role is based in Fort Worth with opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Geography, GIS or related field; relevant experience may substitute for degree.
Experience: No experience required.
Valid driver’s license; capable of driving a state vehicle.

Responsibilities

Collects GPS data and converts into GIS datasets.
Prepares, digitizes and codes spatial data in GIS format.
Maintains GIS databases and cartographic products using ArcGIS.
Links attributes to databases and uses linear referencing to update roadway data.
Digitizes and maintains roadway features and base maps.
