Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation on the Stassney Campus in Austin, TX is seeking GIS Analysts I–IV to join the largest GIS shop in Texas state government. You will perform GIS editing, data analysis, map creation, and tool development, with opportunities to grow skills using ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online/Portal, Python, SQL, JavaScript and FME.

Roles range from entry-level to lead positions, with salary ranges from $50,000 to $95,000 yearly depending on level and experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in geography or GIS or related field.
• Experience requirements vary by Analyst level; entry level under supervision.
• Geospatial data development, GIS editing, and data analysis experience preferred for II–IV.
• Experience with ESRI GIS software is advantageous for higher levels.

Responsibilities

• Creates, maintains, and updates GIS databases and cartographic products using the ESRI suite.
• Uses linear referencing to update and maintain the roadway network and attributes.
• Digitizes and maintains roadway line work and attributes, basemap layers, and administrative polygon boundaries.
• Follows documented workflows, SOPs, and best practices to produce high-quality data.
• Researches new software and techniques for improving performance or processes.
• Creates and updates documentation including SOPs, project plans, wiki pages, metadata.
