Job summary

Fishbeck is seeking a Traffic Engineer to support the Transportation Department in Michigan offices. You will lead traffic studies, modeling, forecasting, and signal operations while coordinating with MDOT and local agencies.

Ideal candidates hold a BS in Civil Engineering with 2+ years of experience and proficiency in HCS, Synchro, Vissim, Rodel and MicroStation, plus strong communication and teamwork. Hybrid/onsite options available.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of traffic engineering experience.
• Experience with the ITE Trip Generation Manual and traffic studies.
• Preferred knowledge of MDOT traffic standards and guidelines.
• Experience with Highway Capacity Software, Synchro, Vissim, Rodel and MicroStation software.
• Excellent computer, planning, verbal communication, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare traffic impact studies, safety studies, signal optimization analyses, and traffic forecasts.
• Perform intersection and roadway traffic modeling.
• Conduct roundabout analysis and geometric evaluations.
• Develop maintenance of traffic plans using traffic data.
• Write reports and support traffic signal design and operations.
• Interact with clients, including MDOT, local agencies, consulting partners, and contractors.
• Assist with project budgets, schedules, and technical proposals.
• Manage tasks, mentor staff, and collaborate with transportation professionals across Fishbeck offices.
