Job summary

RoadSafe Traffic Systems in Suffolk, VA is seeking a Traffic Control Technician II to set up and take down lane closures and ensure worker safety on state highways and other roadways.

You will operate company trucks, drive MOT and TMA vehicles, place traffic signs, deploy cones, monitor the work zone, and complete shop maintenance as needed. Some travel statewide and possible nights/weekends are required.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver's License.
• 1–3 years of traffic control experience with ~2,000 field hours.
• Must pass background check and DOT drug testing.
• Willingness to travel statewide; night/weekend work possible.
• ATSSA TCT intermediate training completed.

Responsibilities

• Operate company trucks to transport materials and equipment to job sites.
• Drive MOT vehicle to and from projects and on work sites.
• Drive TMA vehicle to and from projects to protect workers.
• Place temporary construction signs and set up safety devices in work areas.
• Position arrow boards or variable message boards in work areas.
• Set up traffic cones and other traffic safety devices in work areas.
• Monitor the work zone during shift and keep items in their proper locations.
• Load/unload traffic control items at shift start/end.
• Install, remove, and reset delineators, signs, posts, and supports.
• Perform routine shop maintenance on equipment.
• Follow all safety rules and company policies.
• Be available for rotating on-call schedule and occasional statewide travel.
