Job summary

RoadSafe Traffic Systems is seeking a Traffic Control Technician II to set up and dismantle lane closures on state highways, ensuring safety for workers and the public. You will operate trucks, drive MOT and TMA vehicles, place signs, cones, and boards, and maintain equipment across multiple sites.

Responsibilities include monitoring the work zone, loading/unloading items, and performing shop maintenance while adhering to safety rules and DOT requirements.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• 1-3 years of experience in traffic control and 2000+ field hours preferred.
• Must pass background check and motor vehicle records review.
• Must pass a drug test and meet federal DOT requirements.
• Wear proper safety equipment and maintain PPE.
• Able to read and write for paperwork and road signs.
• Able to read plans and ensure traffic control plans are followed.
• Good knowledge of state/local roadways and delivery vehicle operation.
• Lift up to 70 pounds.
• Willingness to travel statewide and stay overnight when required.
• Able to work a rotating on-call schedule.
• Mechanical background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate company trucks to transport materials and equipment to job sites.
• Drive MOT vehicle to and from projects and on worksites.
• Drive TMA vehicle to and from projects to protect workers and zones.
• Place temporary construction signs in work areas.
• Position arrow boards or variable message boards in work areas.
• Set up traffic cones and other safety devices.
• Monitor the work zone for safety and accuracy.
• Load and unload traffic control items at shift changes.
• Install, remove and reset delineators, signs, posts and supports.
• Perform shop maintenance on equipment.
• Follow all safety rules and company policies.
