We are seeking an experienced Trademark Paralegal to join a sophisticated intellectual property practice in downtown Chicago. This is a hybrid opportunity for a paralegal with strong trademark prosecution experience who is comfortable managing a busy docket, communicating with clients, and supporting attorneys across domestic and international trademark matters.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to independently manage deadlines and competing priorities in a fast-paced law firm environment.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare and file U.S. and foreign trademark applications and prosecution documents, including Statements of Use, Extensions of Time, Amendments to Allege Use, and Sections 8 & 15 declarations
- Manage trademark prosecution deadlines and coordinate with docketing teams to ensure timely filings
- Conduct preliminary trademark clearance and availability searches
- Review and summarize USPTO Office Actions for attorneys
- Review trademark search reports, organize findings, and prepare initial charts and summaries
- Draft filing instructions and correspondence to clients and foreign associates
- Maintain accurate client portfolio and prosecution status reports
- Prepare agendas and materials for recurring client meetings
- Review potential specimens of use and assist attorneys in evaluating appropriate submissions
- Support TTAB proceedings and trademark litigation, including filings, docket management, research, and maintenance of case materials
- Research third-party trademarks and evidence of use as needed
- Assist with copyright matters; prior copyright experience is helpful but not required
- Coordinate projects and communicate regularly with attorneys, clients, and other members of the legal team
- Provide guidance and task supervision to junior paralegals and project assistants when appropriate
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program
- Strong knowledge of trademark prosecution procedures and intellectual property workflows
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and legal support teams
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant trademark/IP systems
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and sound judgment
Compensation & Schedule
Salary: $90,000–$125,000, depending on experience and qualifications
Hybrid schedule – downtown Chicago
