Could you be the full-time remote Trade Compliance Manager in Plattsburgh, NY, US we’re looking for? (This role may be located 100% remote anywhere in the US)

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your interest in geopolitical complexity, and your strong background in international trade and strategic decision-making in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside passionate, dynamic, and motivated teammates.
You will create and manage strategic initiatives and support the regional network of Customs experts. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (Regional Supply Chain Team, project teams, and external suppliers), act as a country-level customs and compliance expert, manage brokerage contracts, support sourcing decisions from a customs perspective, and much more.

We’ll look to you for:
  • Contributing to supplier selection and total cost of ownership decisions for sourcing scenarios
  • Managing the increasingly complex network of tariffs, counter-vailing duties, and retaliatory actions
  • Acting as an expert within project teams on customs regimes and manufacturing footprint optimization
  • Facilitating communication towards internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensuring that the company and its senior management team stay updated on any new customs requirements or initiatives that could affect our business and our customers
  • Managing Global Free Trade Agreements
  • Leading and implementing a best-in-class Compliance and Consulting strategy focused on building, managing, and growing long-term partnerships with our clients
  • Supporting sourcing decisions from a customs lens to optimize efficiency and compliance
  • Managing brokerage contracts to ensure seamless customs operations
  • Driving consistency in process, systems, and data across Alstom sites
All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Legal, Supply Chain, or related field
  • 10 years of experience in international business/trade and customs regimes
  • Strong knowledge of export EAR (Export Administration Regulations)
  • Familiarity with customs brokerage and regulations
  • Ability to present comfortably to groups of varying sizes and levels within the organization, as well as to external suppliers and attorneys
  • High-level technical competence related to Free Trade Agreements
  • ERP background and purchasing/Supply Chain experience
  • Experience in developing compliance programs and processes
  • Knowledge of tariffs and their implications
  • Understanding of manufacturing footprint optimization
Things you’ll enjoy

Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

  • Be able to work remotely within the US
  • Enjoy stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from boring daily routines
  • Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries
  • Benefit from our investment in your development through award-winning learning programs

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
