Job Description

This position will be responsible for identifying technical information and accurately assigning Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes to imported or exported goods.

Job Duties
  1. Perform Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification utilizing all available tools.
  2. Research product information within Olympus product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.
  3. Identify and collaborate with internal Olympus subject matter experts to obtain the necessary information for HTS classification and other Trade Compliance activities.
  4. Monitor and maintain the Olympus HTS database and related systems.
  5. Assist with drafting binding ruling requests and responses to CBP Form 28 (Request for Information).
  6. Maintain and draft periodic updates to HTS classification work instructions, training materials, and decision trees.
  7. Assist with the identification of classification requests, proactively identify future requests, and communicate with the appropriate internal Olympus stakeholders.
  8. Identify additional import reporting requirements and collect the necessary data to make entry.
Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Business, Legal, Supply Chain, Engineering or other related field
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification.
  • Other Considerations (travel/hours availability, etc.): Travel 10%

Preferred:

  • Customs Broker License preferred.
  • Advanced-level Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification skills. Proven ability to navigate and interpret the HTS.
  • Thorough knowledge of the application and usage of the GRI, Section and Chapter Notes, Explanatory Notes, Customs rulings, Informed Compliance publications and other classification tools.
  • Ability to navigate product lifecycle management (PLM) systems to obtain the necessary technical information for classification purposes.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, illustrations, and other technical information.
  • Knowledge of partner government agency (PGA) import requirements.
  • Ability to develop professional working partnerships internally and externally.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 suite. Must have an intermediate or better level of proficiency in Excel.

The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position working at this location is $70,469 - $95,132 per year, plus potential for annual bonus (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements). Olympus considers a variety of factors when determining actual compensation for this position including: level of experience, working location, and relevant education and certifications.
