Job summary

BGE, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Survey Data Technician to support the Survey team in-house in Texas offices (Houston, Katy or The Woodlands). You will manage field logs, process survey data, and prepare deliverables for mapping, modeling, and client delivery.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with survey data, topographic data, field documentation, surface modeling, and QA/QC procedures. Strong organization and communication skills are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or related coursework preferred.
• Experience processing survey data, reviewing field notes, or supporting survey drafting/deliverables.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy; good written and verbal communication.
• Ability to organize multiple projects and daily data submissions; learn company software.

Responsibilities

• Field Data and Logbook Management: maintain and archive field logs and project records; ensure documentation complete; coordinate with field crews to resolve discrepancies.
• Survey Data Processing: download, import, process, and organize daily topographic survey files; post-process data for drafting and mapping; ensure consistency of feature coding and attributes.
• Quality Assurance / Quality Control: perform QA/QC reviews; identify errors or conflicts in field data; coordinate corrections with field personnel and project managers.
• Topographic Data and Deliverables: create field packets; clean up topographic data and linework; input TBM notes and elevations; prepare finished survey topo data products.
• Surface Modeling: create and review terrain models; inspect surfaces for gaps or anomalies; prepare surface files for project teams.
