Job summary

SMS Data Products Group, Inc. seeks a Network & Systems Engineer to lead advanced engineering, strategic analysis, and 24x7 operations for a major DoD contract at Fort Belvoir, VA.

You will own system architectures, security postures, and mission-critical IT services across classified networks. The role requires close collaboration with mission partners, DISA, and Combatant Commands, delivering executive-level briefings and AARs while maintaining incident response and NOSC leadership

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related engineering field with 4-8 years of experience, or a Master's degree with 2-6 years of experience in enterprise systems engineering, network design, and IT operations management.
• Advanced understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls), system virtualization, and storage networks.
• Proficiency in administering enterprise monitoring suites (e.g., SolarWinds), Active Directory architecture, and IT Service Management (ITIL/ITSM) frameworks.
• Must possess a current DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE) or higher prior to start.
• Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance at time of consideration.

Responsibilities

• Systems Analysis & Architecture: Apply advanced systems analysis techniques to consult with leadership and mission partners, determining complex system specifications and roadmaps.
• Network & Systems Engineering: Document, test, and modify network and server configurations, security protocols, and directory services to align with DoD directives and baselines.
• Incident & Operational Leadership: Perform watch officer duties in NOSC operations and lead diagnostic strategy, event correlation, and root-cause analysis.
• Strategic Integration: Provide input for process improvements, incident response frameworks, and SLA-compliant workflows; evaluate third-party solutions within ServiceNow ITSM.
• Executive Advisory: Interface with Mission Partners, DISA, Joint Forces, and Combatant Commands; present After-Action Reports and brief senior leadership.
