Job summary

Defense Engineering, Inc. (Dei) is seeking a Sr. Network & Systems Engineer to provide advanced engineering, strategic systems analysis, and operational oversight for large-scale DoW contract work at Fort Belvoir, VA.

The engineer will support enterprise IT server, storage, and network infrastructures across classified networks (Top Secret/SCI), ensuring secure and resilient access for mission partners and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related engineering field with 8–12 years of experience, or Master’s degree with 6–10 years of experience in enterprise systems engineering, network design, or IT operations management.
• Advanced understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls), system virtualization, and enterprise storage networks.
• Proficiency in administering enterprise monitoring suites (SolarWinds), Active Directory architecture, and ITSM frameworks.
• DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE) or higher prior to start.

Responsibilities

• Apply advanced systems analysis techniques to consult with DTRA leadership and mission partners, determining complex system specifications and roadmaps.
• Document, test, and modify network and server configurations to align with DoD directives and security baselines.
• Perform 24x7x365 NOSC watch officer duties and lead incident diagnosis, root-cause analysis, and escalation.
• Provide input for process improvement and incident response frameworks; evaluate third-party solutions within the ServiceNow ITSM framework.
• Interface with high-level Mission Partners and senior leadership to advise on operational impacts and vulnerabilities.
• Prepare and deliver operational briefs and executive summaries to leadership.
