Job summary

Stellantis in Kokomo, IN seeks a skilled Toolmaker to build, modify and repair tools, jigs and fixtures used on production equipment. You will read blueprints, set up machines and verify dimensions with precision measuring tools.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, several years of Toolmaking experience or equivalent apprenticeship, and the ability to work shifts and troubleshoot tooling in a fast-paced automotive environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Basic knowledge of mathematics, algebra and physics is required.
• 4+ years combined experience/training like an apprenticeship as Tool Maker or Tool and Die Maker; or related credential.
• Experience as a Toolmaker in a manufacturing environment is required.

Responsibilities

• Work any shift and overtime as required.
• Set up, service and program Destackers, Washers, Re-oilers, Exit conveyors, and Racking Systems.
• Install and maintain tooling and crossbars; cam rollers, suction cups, vacuum lines, and tooling aids.
• Clear and prepare line for automatic die set, correct faults and restart machines.
• Service and set all loading automation.
• Construct and service automation booms.
• Work from blueprints to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools or assemblies.
• Verify dimensions using calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers and dial indicators.
• Set up and operate CNC tools to cut, bore, grind or shape parts.
• Fit and assemble parts to make, repair or modify jigs, gauges and tools.
• Test completed tools to ensure they meet specs and adjust as needed.
• Lift and position machine parts on surfaces using hoists, vises, etc.
• Measure and mark stock to lay out machining with protractors, micrometers and rulers.
• Cut, shape and trim blanks to specified lengths using power saws.
• Design jigs, fixtures and templates for tooling use.
• Select materials based on hardness and heat tolerance.
• Perform incidental tasks to complete larger tasks.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office; basic familiarity with G-Suite preferred.
