Job summary

stellantisexternalcx is seeking a skilled Toolmaker to produce and repair cutting tools, jigs, fixtures and hand tools in an automotive manufacturing plant. You will analyze specifications, lay out metal stock, set up and operate machine tools, and assemble parts to exact dimensions.

The role requires strong math skills, problem solving, and the ability to work from blueprints or CAD/CAM drawings. You must be able to work shifts, overtime, and maintain tooling and fixtures for production lines.

Qualifications

• Basic qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and math/physics knowledge.
• Four years of combined experience and training similar to an apprenticeship for Tool Maker or Tool and Die Maker; or official apprenticeship completion; or eight years of Tool Maker experience; or five years plus three years in a related trade.
• Experience as a Toolmaker in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate conventional or CNC machine tools to cut, bore, grind or shape parts to prescribed dimensions.
• Test and inspect tools to ensure they meet specifications.
• Read blueprints and layouts to plan sequences of operations.
• Install and maintain tooling and crossbars; assemble jigs, gauges and tools.
• Work shifts and overtime as required; participate in maintenance and calibration of tooling and fixtures.
