Job summary

Saab West Lafayette is hiring a Manufacturing Engineering Technician for the 3rd shift to ensure tooling support for the production line building the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk aircraft. You will maintain tooling, run studies, test tooling, and drive improvements while collaborating with the tooling engineer and shop team.

Requirements include an Associate Degree in STEM or 2+ years in aircraft manufacturing, tooling selection, GD&T familiarity, and strong Excel reporting skills.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in STEM or 2+ years comparable work experience is required.
• 2+ years of technical/assembly in aircraft manufacturing is a plus.
• Tooling selection/application experience in manufacturing setting.
• Basic tooling design.
• Troubleshooting tooling issues with countermeasures.
• Tooling performance testing and reporting.
• Ability to operate machining and measurement equipment.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Understanding aerospace quality regulations is a plus.
• GD&T knowledge is helpful.
• Proficient in computer reporting, including Excel.
• CAD software experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Audit and maintain proper tools within each assembly area.
• Provide support for tooling studies and application.
• Conduct performance testing for tooling and provide technical analyses.
• Investigate and resolve tooling issues.
• Propose new tooling solutions/designs and assist with installations.
• Contribute to Saab's people-first culture and core values.
• Assist assemblers with proper and safe use of tools.
• Ensure tooling compliance to aerospace standards.
• Work independently and with the team.
• Champion Saab's values in daily tasks.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
