Job summary

Saab West Lafayette, IN is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician for the 3rd shift to support tooling and manufacturing technology in the production of the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk aircraft for the United States Air Force.

The role focuses on ensuring tooling supply, driving improvements, inventory control, and serving as the link between tooling engineering and the production team in West Lafayette.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in STEM discipline OR 2+ years comparable work experience is required.
• 2+ years of technical/assembly in aircraft manufacturing is a plus.
• Tooling selection/application experience in manufacturing setting.
• Basic tooling design and troubleshooting tooling issues with countermeasures.
• Ability to operate machining and measurement equipment; strong GD&T understanding.

Responsibilities

• Audit and maintain proper tools within each assembly area.
• Provide support for tooling studies and application.
• Conduct performance testing for tooling and provide reports.
• Investigate and resolve tooling issues.
• Propose new tooling solutions and install tooling capital projects.
• Assist assemblers with proper and safe use of tools.
• Ensure tooling compliance to aerospace standards.
