Job summary

Saab West Lafayette is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician for our 3rd shift to ensure tooling readiness and drive tooling improvements in a high-precision aircraft manufacturing environment. You will liaise between tooling engineering and production, audit tools, and support tooling studies and installations.

The role requires STEM education or equivalent experience, and 2+ years in aircraft manufacturing is a strong plus.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in STEM discipline or 2+ years comparable work experience required.
• 2+ years technical/assembly in aircraft manufacturing is a plus.
• Tooling selection/application experience in manufacturing setting.
• Basic tooling design experience.
• Troubleshooting tooling issues with countermeasures.
• Tooling performance testing and reporting.
• Ability to operate machining and measurement equipment.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Understanding aerospace quality regulations and standards is a plus.
• GD&T knowledge is recommended.
• Proficient in computer reporting including Excel.
• CAD software experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Audit and maintain proper tools within each assembly area.
• Provide support for tooling studies and application.
• Conduct performance testing for tooling and provide analysis reports.
• Investigate and resolve tooling issues.
• Propose new tooling solutions/designs and assist with capital projects.
• Assist assemblers with proper and safe use of tools.
• Ensure tooling compliance to Aerospace standards.
• Champion Saab values in daily work.
• Other tasks as assigned.
