Job summary

Saab West Lafayette in Indiana is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician for 3rd shift to ensure tooling readiness and drive tooling improvements on the production floor. You will support tooling studies, conduct performance testing, and resolve tooling issues while collaborating with the tooling engineer and assembly teams.

The role emphasizes compliance with aerospace standards, GD&T understanding, and strong problem-solving.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in STEM or 2+ years of comparable work experience.
• 2+ years of technical/assembly in aircraft manufacturing is a plus.
• Tooling selection and application experience in manufacturing.
• Basic tooling design experience.
• Troubleshooting tooling issues with countermeasures.
• Tooling performance testing and reporting.
• Ability to operate machining and measurement equipment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of aerospace quality regulations and standards is a plus.
• Understanding of GD&T principles.
• Proficient with Excel, capable of computer-based reporting.
• CAD software experience is a plus.
• Driven, innovative and able to take initiative.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Must be self-motivated and physically capable over long shifts.
• Willingness to work extended hours and weekend overtime.

Responsibilities

• Audit and maintain proper tools in each assembly area.
• Provide support for tooling studies and applications.
• Conduct performance Testing for tooling and generate analyses.
• Investigate and resolve tooling issues promptly.
• Propose new tooling solutions and assist with capital projects.
• Contribute to Saab's people-first culture and core values.
• Assist assemblers with proper and safe use of tools.
• Ensure tooling complies with aerospace standards.
• Collaborate with tooling engineer and production team.
• Other tasks as assigned.
