Job summary

Saab in West Lafayette, IN is hiring a Manufacturing Engineering Technician for the 3rd shift to support tooling in aircraft manufacturing. The role connects tooling engineering with production, ensuring proper tooling supply, performing studies, and driving improvements.

The candidate should have STEM education or relevant experience, tooling proficiency, GD&T understanding, and the ability to work independently or in teams. Strong safety and compliance mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in STEM discipline OR 2+ years comparable work experience is required.
• 2+ years of technical /assembly in aircraft manufacturing is a plus.
• Tooling selection / application experience in manufacturing setting.
• Basic tooling design experience.
• Troubleshooting tooling issues with countermeasures.

Responsibilities

• Audit and maintain proper tools within each assembly area.
• Provide support for tooling studies and application.
• Conduct performance testing for tooling and provide technical analysis reports and testing.
• Investigate and resolve tooling issues.
• Propose new tooling solutions/ designs and contribute to installation of new tooling capital projects.
• Contribute to a people-first culture aligned with Trust, Drive, Expertise and Support.
• Assist assemblers with proper and safe use of tools.
• Ensure tooling compliance to Aerospace standards.
• Champion Saab's Company values and work ethic.
• Other tasks as assigned.
