Job summary

Saab West Lafayette is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician for the 3rd shift to ensure proper tooling in the production system and drive tooling improvements. You will bridge the tooling engineer and production teams while supporting tooling studies and capital projects.

The role requires a STEM-based degree or 2+ years of relevant aircraft manufacturing experience, with strong GD&T knowledge, CAD familiarity, and readiness for extended hours.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in STEM or 2+ years of comparable work experience required.
• 2+ years of technical/assembly in aircraft manufacturing is a plus.
• Tooling selection and application experience in manufacturing setting.
• Basic tooling design.
• Troubleshooting tooling issues with countermeasures.
• Tooling performance testing and reporting.
• Ability to operate machining and measurement equipment.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Understanding aerospace quality regulations and standards is a plus.
• Good understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
• Proficiency with Excel reporting.
• CAD software experience is a plus.
• Driven and proactive; takes initiative.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• Must be mobile and able to sit/stand for long periods.
• Lift up to 25 lbs regularly; up to 50 lbs occasionally.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekend overtime when required.

Responsibilities

• Audit and maintain proper tools within each assembly area.
• Support tooling studies and applications.
• Conduct tooling performance testing and provide analysis reports.
• Investigate and resolve tooling issues.
• Propose new tooling solutions and contribute to tooling capital projects.
• Support a people-first culture aligned with company values.
• Assist assemblers with proper and safe use of tools.
• Ensure tooling compliance to aerospace standards.
• Operate as a link between tooling engineer and production team.
• Other tasks as assigned.
