Job summary

Saab West Lafayette is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician for 3rd shift to ensure tooling readiness, drive tooling improvements, manage inventory, and act as a bridge between tooling engineers and production. You will support tooling studies, analyze performance, and resolve issues to keep the manufacturing line efficient.

The role requires an Associate Degree in STEM or 2+ years of relevant aircraft tooling/assembly experience, with strong GD&T knowledge and CAD/Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in STEM or 2+ years comparable work experience required
• 2+ years technical/assembly in aircraft manufacturing preferred
• Tooling selection / application experience in manufacturing
• Basic tooling design
• Troubleshooting tooling issues with countermeasures
• Tooling performance testing and reporting
• Ability to operate machining and measurement equipment
• Strong organizational skills
• Understanding aerospace quality regulations and standards is a plus
• GD&T proficiency
• Proficient with Excel reporting
• CAD software experience preferred
• Driven, innovative and takes initiative
• Independent and team-oriented work ability
• Must be able to sit/stand for long periods
• Able to lift 25–50 lbs and occasionally more
• Willing to work extended hours and weekends when required

Responsibilities

• Audit and maintain proper tools within each assembly area
• Provide support for tooling studies and applications
• Conduct tooling performance testing and provide technical reports
• Investigate and resolve tooling issues
• Propose new tooling solutions and assist with capital tooling projects
• Assist assemblers with safe use of tools
• Ensure tooling compliance to aerospace standards
• Champion Saab values and teamwork
