Job summary

Radiant, based in El Segundo, CA, seeks a Tooling Engineer to partner with design and manufacturing engineers to develop production tooling for fabricating complex mechanisms. You will design, analyze, and fabricate tooling enabling semi-remote fueling/defueling of a nuclear microreactor.

The role emphasizes collaboration with design and operations teams, strong analytical skills, and hands-on experience with custom machine design and electromechanical systems.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline.
• Graduating in December 2026 or Spring 2027.
• Understanding of both “hand calc” analytical methods and higher fidelity finite element-based analysis methods.
• Self-motivated with strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
• Experience with custom machine design; electromechanical systems, motors, actuators, linear rails, bearings, lifting/rigging, etc.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with design and operations teams.

Responsibilities

• Partner with design and manufacturing engineers to develop innovative production tooling for fabricating and assembling complex mechanisms and structures.
• Design, analyze, and fabricate tooling that enables semi-remote operations for fueling/defueling of the reactor.
• Identify and develop appropriate suppliers for tooling components, fabrication.
