Job summary

Westfall Technik, the fastest growing plastic injection molding company in the USA, is seeking a Tool Maker at our Elizabethtown, KY site. You will repair, maintain, and set up self-contained molds, inspect tooling, and contribute to safety and continuous improvement.

Ideal candidates have 5–7 years as a toolmaker, experience in injection molding, ability to read drawings, weld, and operate lathes, drill presses and mills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 5–7 years as a toolmaker.
• 5 years in injection molding production preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret tooling drawings.
• Welding experience and machine tools proficiency.
• Able to sit or stand for long periods.
• Occasional lifting up to 55–60 lbs.
• Frequent pushing, pulling, twisting, balancing, and stooping.
• Vision suitable for operating machines (lathes, mills, drills).

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and emergency tooling repair, maintenance, cleaning and setup of self-contained molds.
• Inspect, build and maintain tooling and fixtures using turning, milling and grinding operations.
• Recommend mold design changes to improve tool life.
• Assist in troubleshooting tooling on production floor and on the bench.
• Participate in plant-wide safety efforts and maintain a safe, organized workspace.
• Support continuous improvement activities and keep a clean, efficient work area.
• Respond to production, engineering and maintenance demands.
• Work independently or as part of a team.
• Handle other responsibilities and projects as assigned.

We are currently seeking a Tool Maker with the below qualifications:

Professional Attributes

• Perform scheduled & emergency tooling repair, maintenance, cleaning & set-up of self-contained molds
• Inspect, build & maintain tooling & part fixtures using turning, milling & grinding operations
• Recommend changes to mold designs to improve life of the tooling
• Assist in troubleshooting of tooling on production floor in the molding machines & on the bench
• Participation in plant-wide safety efforts - safe and careful work practices always followed to reinforce a culture of safety
• Support and participation in continuous improvement activities including maintaining a clean and organized workplace
• Responsiveness to production, engineering and maintenance demands
• Ability to work independently as well as on a team
• Other responsibilities and projects as assigned.

Desired Skills and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent is required
• 5-7 years’ experience as a toolmaker
• 5 years production environment in injection molding or related field preferred
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work and detail orientated
• Must be able to weld and have experience with machine tools
• Must be able to read and interpret tooling drawings
• Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
• Must be able to 55-60 lbs. occasionally during the day
• Frequent pushing, pulling, twisting, balancing, and stooping
• Must have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating machines such as lathes, drill presses, power saws and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach
