Job summary

Westfall Technik is seeking a Tool Maker Trainee for the 2nd shift (Monday–Friday, 3:00pm–11:00pm) at our Wakefield, MI site. You will operate mills and grinders, assist mold makers, and help ensure high-quality injection molds through proper assembly and inspection.

Ideal candidates have strong mechanical aptitude, teamwork, and the ability to lift up to 100 lbs. We offer competitive hourly pay and a shift differential to support a productive, team-oriented environment.

• Good mechanical aptitude and ability to learn quickly.
• Ability to work in a team environment to accomplish department tasks.
• Physical strength to lift up to 100 lbs occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Operate manual machines such as mills and grinders and heat treat ovens.
• Operate the wet grinder and grind parts per direction and print.
• Assist lead mold makers with assembling molds to produce good parts at first sample.
• Meet schedules and complete tasks ahead of time when possible.
• Maintain a neat, organized, and clean department.
• Support tool building tasks under department lead guidance.
• Learn mold fit, assembly, completion, and inspection of injection molds.
• Maintain department housekeeping and cleanliness.

We are currently seeking Tool Maker Trainee, with the below qualifications

2nd shift: Monday- Friday, 3:00pm- 11:00pm

Professional Attributes

• Efficiently operate manual machines such as mills and grinders and heat treat ovens.
• Efficiently operate the wet grinder and grind parts per direction and to print.
• Assist the lead mold makers with assembling molds complete with a goal of making good parts at first sample.
• Meet scheduled hours and dates of all tasks, with the goal of completing ahead of schedule.
• Maintain an attitude of Continuous Improvement. Make suggestions for improvements.
• Maintain a department that is neat, organized, and clean at all times.
• Carry out tasks for tool building under the direction of the department lead person.
• Learn mold Fit, Assemble, Complete, and Inspect of injection molds.
• Responsible for Department Housekeeping, Cleanliness, and Organization as required

Desired Skills and Experience

• Good mechanical aptitude, Organizational and communication Abilities a must, Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment to accomplish all tasks of the department. Ability to learn new tasks efficiently.
