Job summary

Frontgrade Technologies seeks a Tool and Die Technician IV to plan, layout, set-up, operate and adjust tools to cut and shape metal using manual and machine shop equipment. You will follow blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a Tool and Die apprenticeship or technical program preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Tool and Die Maker or in a related machining role
  • Proficiency reading blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Strong knowledge of CNC programming/operation and CAD/CAM software
  • Skilled in the use of precision measuring instruments
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in area of responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Design and fabricate tools, dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures from blueprints, sketches, or CAD models
  • Set up and operate machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders, EDM, CNC equipment) to shape and finish metal parts
  • Measure, mark, and layout materials to ensure precise dimensions and tolerances
  • Inspect finished tooling using precision instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to verify specifications
  • Troubleshoot and repair worn or damaged dies, molds, and tooling components
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tooling to extend service life and reduce downtime
  • Collaborate with engineers to improve tool design, reduce cycle time, and solve production issues
  • Maintain detailed records of tooling specifications, repairs, and modifications
  • Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area

Job Description

The Tool and Die Technician IV will plan, layout, set-up, operate and make tool adjustments to cut and shape all types of metals using manual (e.g., lathes, millers and grinders), machine shop equipment. They will work from verbal instructions, blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks.


Responsibilities


  • Design and fabricate tools, dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures from blueprints, sketches, or CAD models
