Job summary

ABB's NEMA Motors Division in the United States is seeking a Tool & Stamping Die Design Engineer to lead the design and development of progressive, transfer, and draw dies for high-precision stamping. You will own tooling projects end-to-end with DFM reviews and cross-functional coordination.

Key responsibilities include optimizing tooling for performance, quality, and cost, mentoring engineers, and delivering robust tooling solutions that support manufacturing productivity.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Tool & Die experience, preferably progressive stamping operations and carbide lamination dies.
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD with GD&T knowledge.
• Understanding of CNC machining, Wire EDM, grinding, tooling fabrication, and automation integration.
• Experience leading projects and mentoring technical personnel.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of complex stamping dies (progressive, transfer, draw) using CAD tools, delivering accurate 3D models, strip layouts, and tooling docs.
• Perform critical calculations and apply advanced materials knowledge to optimize tooling for performance, quality, durability, and cost-efficiency.
• Own tooling projects end-to-end—from concept through launch—DFM reviews, stakeholder coordination, risk management, and engineering changes.
• Drive tooling performance improvements through data analysis, root cause resolution, and production support while mentoring teams.
