Job summary

Ditron, Inc. in New York seeks a Mechanical Engineer / Tool & Die Designer to lead end-to-end design of progressive stamping dies for micro-miniature metal parts using BeCu and Phos Bronze.

You will create 2D/3D drawings, specify tooling materials and heat-treatment requirements, and interface with customers on tolerances and manufacturability while supporting production processes on a precision tooling team.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or closely related field.
• 3–5 years of progressive die design experience in a precision metal stamping environment.
• Experience with thin-gauge BeCu and/or Phos Bronze materials.
• Proficient in AutoCAD Inventor, AutoCAD Mechanical, SolidWorks eDrawings Viewer, and CAM software (Esprit or equivalent).
• Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, and Adobe Acrobat for engineering documentation.

Responsibilities

• Progressive Die Design: design and develop progressive stamping dies for micro-miniature parts from BeCu and Phos Bronze materials.
• Mechanical Engineering & Documentation: maintain and organize engineering files, support tooling design and production operations.
• New Product Development & Customer Interface: participate in quotations, assess feasibility and die costs, interface with customers on tolerances and DFМ feedback.
• Production Process Proficiency: support heat-treating, tumbling, winding, reeling processes and inspection methods on stamping parts.
