Job summary

ABB is seeking a Tool Room Manager to lead design, fabrication, maintenance, and lifecycle management of stamping dies and tooling at its St. Louis area operations. You will supervise toolmakers, machinists, and apprentices, ensuring safety and quality while driving uptime and efficiency.

The role emphasizes leadership, strategic budgeting, and collaboration with engineering and production to meet targets and enable continuous improvement across the tool room and stamping processes.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in tool and die manufacturing with 5+ years in leadership.
• Extensive stamping and tooling knowledge including progressive die design.
• Carbide tool fabrication, troubleshooting, and life optimization.
• Strong CNC, EDM, and manual machining capabilities with precision measurement.
• Experience with maintenance planning, lifecycle management, and capital budgeting.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Tool Room organization through supervision, training, and succession planning.
• Direct design, fabrication, maintenance, repair, and lifecycle management of stamping dies and tooling.
• Drive continuous improvement and root-cause analyses to boost die performance and tool life.
• Manage tool room operations, budgets, capital investments, inventory, and documentation.
