Job summary

Northrop Grumman in San Diego, California, is seeking a Tool Design Engineer – Level 2 or 3 to design complex composite tooling and fixtures for manufacturing and testing of aerospace parts.

You will work with Manufacturing, Test and Engineering to deliver 3D designs and 2D drawings, participate in design reviews, and help ensure cost and schedule targets are met. A BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Eng and NX/Teamcenter experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 2 years in a structural design field.
• Experience with aerospace product definition, drawings, ICDs, and compliance.
• Understanding of aerospace materials and bonding/fastening methods.
• Experience with CAD and PLM systems (NX/Teamcenter).
• Experience in drawing generation with GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Create, prototype, design and analyze tools and fixtures for composite parts manufacturing and testing.
• Develop components and subsystems using CAD and analytical tools.
• Produce 3D designs and 2D drawings for reviews.
• Participate in internal/external design reviews and prepare presentation media.
• Support tooling fabrication and test, and manufacturing plans.
