Job summary

Northrop Grumman in San Diego, CA is seeking a Tool Design Engineer – Level 2 or 3 to join the Mission Enabling Products (MEP) Team. You will design complex composite tooling and collaborate with Manufacturing and Test to ensure successful hardware delivery.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 2–5 years in structural design, CAD/PLM experience (Siemens NX, Teamcenter), GD&T, DFMA, and the ability to obtain U.S. government clearance.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with relevant structural design experience
• Experience with aerospace product definition and drawings, ICDs, and SOWs
• Knowledge of aerospace materials and bonding/fastening methods
• Proficiency in CAD and PLM tools such as Siemens NX and Teamcenter
• GD&T drawing generation and interpretation
• DFMA principles and design-for-manufacturability experience
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government clearance

Responsibilities

• Create, prototype, design, and analyze tooling for composite parts and fixtures
• Develop 3D designs and 2D drawings for manufacturability
• Participate in design reviews and prepare presentation media for PDR/CDR/MRR
• Support fixture manufacturing, testing, and procurement activities
• Manage multiple priorities to meet program goals and schedules
• Contribute to continuous improvement of tooling processes
