Job summary

Northrop Grumman in San Diego, CA, seeks a Tool Design Engineer at Level 2 or 3 to design complex composite tooling. You will collaborate with Manufacturing, Test, and Engineering to ensure successful tool delivery and integration with production.

Required are a B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, CAD/PLM proficiency (NX/Teamcenter), and DFMA/GDT knowledge. U.S. government clearance ability is needed; relocation is possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 2+ years in a structural design field for aerospace.
• Experience with CAD and PLM systems (NX/Teamcenter).
• Understanding of GD&T and DFMA principles.

Responsibilities

• Create, prototype, design and analyze tools and fixtures for composite parts.
• Develop and refine components using CAD and analytical tools.
• Produce 3D designs and 2D drawings for manufacturing and testing.
• Participate in internal and external design reviews and prepare media.
• Support tooling manufacturing and test activities as needed.
• Assist in manufacturing/test plans and supplier engagement.
