Job summary

Fastener Technology Corp. is seeking an experienced tool and die maker in Los Angeles. The role involves setting up and operating equipment to produce precision components, repairing header tools, and assembling header tool parts with carbide and hardened steels to tight tolerances.

You will read drawings, use micrometers, calipers, and comparators, and collaborate with manufacturing teams to support multiple product lines. Strong shop math and safe, clean work habits are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read blueprints.
• Strong understanding of shop math and dimensional tolerances.
• Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate tool and die equipment to complete assigned manufacturing tasks.
• Repair header tools and assemble header tool components.
• Work with carbide, hardened tool steels, dies and cutting tools to close tolerance.
• Operate mills, lathes, surface grinders, hones, and fixtures as required.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and use shop math for measurements.

Job description

Under general supervision and according to established policy and procedures the tool and die maker is responsible for performing his/her own set-ups and machine/grind all necessary components required to complete assignments given to support all manufacturing product lines.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Strong understanding of slip and press fit relationships.
• Repair Header tools and make complete header tool components.
• Work with carbide, hardened tool steels, dies and cutting tools to close tolerance.
• Work with mills, lathes, surface grinders, hones, and fixtures.
• Use shop math as required.
• Clean and maintain the work area.

Skills and Formal Training Requirements/Experience

• Shop math
• Must be able to read blueprints.
• Use measuring instruments (i.e., micrometers, calipers, comparators).
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a tool maker for a manufacturing facility.
