Job summary

Fastener Technology Corp. in California is seeking an experienced tool and die maker who can perform own setups and grind all necessary components to support manufacturing product lines.

You will repair header tools, work with carbide and hardened tool steels, and ensure close tolerances using mills, lathes, surface grinders and fresh fixtures. Requirements include reading blueprints, shop math and proficiency with measuring instruments.

Qualifications

• Shop math is required.
• Must be able to read blueprints.
• Use measuring instruments (i.e., micrometers, calipers, comparators).
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a tool maker for a manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities

• Perform own tool and die set-ups and grind components to complete assignments for all manufacturing product lines.
• Repair header tools and make complete header tool components.
• Work with carbide, hardened tool steels, dies and cutting tools to close tolerance.
• Operate mills, lathes, surface grinders, hones, and fixtures.
• Maintain clean and safe work area.

Under general supervision and according to established policy and procedures the tool and die maker is responsible for performing his/her own set-ups and machine/grind all necessary components required to complete assignments given to support all manufacturing product lines.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Strong understanding of slip and press fit relationships.
• Repair Header tools and make complete header tool components.
• Work with carbide, hardened tool steels, dies and cutting tools to close tolerance.
• Work with mills, lathes, surface grinders, hones, and fixtures.
• Use shop math as required.
• Clean and maintain the work area.
