Job summary

Kapsch TrafficCom is seeking a System Operator I for the Region 2 Transportation Management Center in Utica, NY. The role focuses on monitoring traffic conditions, coordinating incident response, and ensuring efficient TMC operation.

Ideal candidates have an associate degree or 60 college credits, plus strong oral and written communication, MS Office proficiency, and knowledge of roadway elements. A training path leads to promotion upon successful evaluation.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate degree or higher; OR 60 college credit hours with KSAs; OR two years of full-time qualifying experience.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Proficiency in oral and written communication; MS Office and spreadsheets; knowledge of roadway elements; ability to work with colleagues and agencies.

Responsibilities

• Monitor traffic conditions and coordinate incident response for Region 2 TMC in Utica, NY.
• Understand communications protocols and ITS elements; follow procedures and directions.
• Support daily TMC operations and participate in training leading to promotion to System Operator I.
