Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Traffic Management Center Operator Trainee in Columbia, SC for a full-time, on-site role. The position involves monitoring ITS, dispatching SHEP patrollers, and coordinating with SCDOT and PS agencies.

The work includes overnight hours (6pm–6am) with rotating schedules and training requirements. The role uses ATMS software to manage incidents, communicate with responders, and log activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Must pass a state and federal criminal history/security background check.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• Ability to successfully pass post-employment 6-week SCDOT TMC training and performance program.

Responsibilities

• Dispatch and coordinate SHEP patrollers and respond to roadway incidents.
• Monitor CCTV and traffic information sources for events affecting flow and safety.
• Log events and closures using ITS software and log communications with agencies.
• Operate ATMS software and CCTV displays to monitor transportation networks.
• Maintain clear, concise written documentation of activity and communications.
• Follow SOPs and program guidelines.
