Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Traffic Monitoring Operator I for Indianapolis, IN. This part-time overnight position supports the Traffic Management Center and Indiana DOT operations in a fast-paced, tech-driven environment.

You will monitor CCTV and road conditions, communicate with incident responders, input data into REM and CARS systems, and provide timely traveler information to the public. Ideal candidates are reliable, able to multitask under pressure, and comfortable working a fixed overnight

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• Ability and Flexibility to work a variety of shifts.
• Constantly operate a computer and other monitoring equipment.
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time monitoring Intelligent Transportation Systems such CCTV camera displays, meters, law enforcement radio broadcasts, answering/responding to calls and communicating to other staff or partner agencies.

Responsibilities

• Disseminate information regarding incidents to INDOT’s Hoosier Helper Freeway Service Patrol.
• Monitor CCTV traffic cameras and radio communications with INDOT personnel and other agencies.
• Input data into REM and CARS databases for incidents and activities impacting traffic flow.
• Assess large volumes of data from multiple sources to detect roadway incidents.
• Provide accurate information to motorists and coordinate with responders and maintenance staff.
