Job summary

Bay Area Community Resources (BACR) seeks an after-school program aide in Oakland to lead engaging activities for K–12 students, provide homework help, and support enrichment programs.

The role requires working 20–30 hours weekly during after-school hours through the school year, with a $200 signing bonus after 90 days and a comprehensive benefits package including dental, vision, wellness, life insurance, FSA, transit benefits, and a 403(b) plan.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher, or 48 college units, or pass the Instructional Aide exam.
• Criminal background check and TB clearance required.
• Available for after-school hours and academic year (may include summer).
• Experience working with kids and ability to lead/supervise up to 22 students.
• Ability to communicate professionally and maintain confidentiality.
• Basic technology skills (Word, Email, Workvivo, Workday, Google Drive).
• Complete mandated trainings (Mandated Reporter, etc.).
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand/walk for extended periods.
• English communication with students and families; basic reading for academic support.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate engaging academic, enrichment, recreation, and SEL activities for K–12 students.
• Build positive relationships fostering belonging, confidence, and engagement.
• Support student behavior with restorative and trauma-informed practices.
• Provide homework help and adapt activities for diverse learning needs.
• Supervise groups of up to 22 youths during activities.
• Collaborate with program staff, school personnel, and families to support student success.
• Maintain attendance/incident reports and program documentation.
• Attend staff meetings, PD, coaching and trainings.
• Represent BACR professionally in all communications.
