Job summary

Leona Group in Detroit, MI is seeking a paraprofessional to provide supplemental instructional support to eligible students in Title I programs. You will work under the guidance of the Title I or General Education Teachers to deliver small-group and individualized interventions.

You will administer screenings and track student progress, maintain confidential records, participate in team meetings, and support behavior management and parent communications as needed.

Qualifications

• Complete at least two years of study at an accredited institution of higher education (equal to 60 semester hours).
• Obtain an associate's degree (or higher) from an accredited institution or pass a formal state assessment showing reading, writing, and mathematics knowledge.
• Knowledge of, and ability to assist in, instructing reading, writing, and mathematics as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Deliver interventions to students in small groups or one-on-one as guided by the teacher.
• Report outcomes of interventions to the Title I or General Education Teacher with daily progress notes.
• Administer assessments and screeners to inform eligibility, interventions, progress-monitoring, and exit decisions.
• Attend parent/teacher conferences as needed to support communication with parents about student performance.
• Maintain student files and ensure confidentiality of records in line with guidelines.
• Maintain activity logs and time/effort documentation to comply with regulatory requirements.
• Communicate regularly with Title I and General Education Teachers about student progress and concerns.
• Participate in teams such as RTI, data, PBS, and school improvement teams as needed.
• Assist in upholding behavior expectations and maintaining a safe classroom environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
