Best Homes Title Agency, LLC is seeking a proactive Title Examiner to research and prepare title documents for residential and commercial matters. The role requires precise analysis, strong communication, and timely collaboration with attorneys and staff.

Qualifications

The Title Examiner is responsible for conducting research, preparing documents, and working cross-functionally. The ideal candidate possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, strong time management, and attention to detail. The ideal candidate is a team player with a strong desire to provide a “best-in-class” customer service experience.

Title Examiner Job Responsibilities:

• Search and examine titles of moderate to advanced complexity in accordance with company and underwriting examining procedures to determine the status of the title or establish a chain of title.
• Abstracts and analyzes deeds, mortgages, easements, judgments, tax assessments, mineral reservations, and other applicable instruments.
• Demonstrates proficiency in mapping unplatted land.
• Compiles reports from searched data, types commitments/search products, and bills accordingly.
• Updates commitments/search products through closing.
• Reviews commitments and closing documents after closing. Types and produces final policies.
• Responds to various requests from company employees, affiliates/attorneys, and the general public regarding the status of legal title and insurability of title.
• Locates, compiles, and posts information from city, county, and other public records for updating company files, logs, and indexes.
• Searches/examines and writes continuations and reinsured cases of moderate complexity.
• Reviews and processes title clearance requests, indemnities, policies, and corrections.
• Provides exceptional customer service to our clients and internal staff members.
• Completes all other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or higher preferred.
• 1-3+ years of Title Examiner experience required; 5+ years preferred.
• Experience working with ResWare, Qualia, or other industry software is required.
• Extensive background in examining Michigan properties required; multi-state title experience preferred.
• Ability to serve as a role model by maintaining high-quality standards and providing educational assistance/constructive feedback to team members.

This is a full-time, in-office position, Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., with an average of 40 hours per week. Overtime hours may become available and required based on business needs.

Position available in either our Sterling Heights, Farmington Hills, or Grand Rapids office locations, depending on candidate preference.
