Job summary

Kendall Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a dedicated Grossing Technician to support tissue processing in the Gross Room and Frozen Section Services. You will work under supervision of the Pathologists' Assistant Lead or Medical Director of Pathology Services and play a key role in education and quality assurance.

The role involves gross examinations, specimen handling, dictation, and maintaining equipment and spaces in accordance with standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a science-related field (major coursework in biology, chemistry or immunology).
• Graduate of a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant Training Program and be an AAPA Fellow or eligible.
• Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists preferred

Responsibilities

• Performs gross examinations, dissection, and description of tissues.
• Manage workload to meet Turn-Around-Time requirements and specimen specs.
• Maintain accuracy of tissue sampling, gross descriptions, and dictations.
• Photograph specimens for archival purposes when appropriate.
• Perform gross procedures and dictations on routine and complex specimens.
• Keep gross room and frozen section areas clean and organized.
• Maintain tissue storage areas and racks for rapid retrieval.
• Train and educate laboratory personnel and residents in tissue processing.
