Job summary

Hoosier Racing Tire in Plymouth, IN, seeks a Tire Engineer Intern to support data investigations, tool development, and R&D efforts in tire construction and materials. You will analyze testing data, enhance internal tools, and assist with research on performance and technology initiatives.

The role requires a student enrolled full-time in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM, with a 3.0+ GPA and experience in AutoCAD/SolidWorks, Excel (macros/pivots/VBA), and Power BI.

Qualifications

• Full-time enrolled student pursuing undergraduate or graduate degree; sophomore standing Fall 2027.
• Major in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM.
• GPA 3.0 or higher; unofficial transcripts must be provided.
• Experience with 2D and 3D design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
• Experience with MS Excel (macros, pivots, VBA) and MS Power BI.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Reliable and responsible to complete tasks.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
• Must be able to commute to Plymouth, IN.
• Hoosier will not pay for housing expenses for this opportunity.

Responsibilities

• Support data investigations focused on tire constructions, materials, and performance characteristics.
• Analyze and optimize existing R&D tools to ensure reliability and continuous improvement.
• Assist in tire construction analyses to identify opportunities for improvements in performance, cost, and efficiency.
• Review and interpret data from both indoor and outdoor tire testing programs.
• Support the development of digital solutions that enhance cross-departmental collaboration (e.g., scheduling, tire testing workflows).
• Develop new tools that improve data evaluation, visualization, and reporting capabilities.
• Support the Product Development team with the implementation and validation of various technical tasks.
• Assist R&D Management with high-priority items by providing rapid analyses, summaries, and targeted data investigations.
