Qualifications

• 1 year of hands-on experience in networking, systems administration, or MSP support.
• Working knowledge of wireless networking troubleshooting.
• Experience provisioning/maintaining VMs in a hypervisor environment.
• Familiarity with Fortigate or similar firewall platforms.
• Experience supporting VPN connections (site-to-site and/or remote access).
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently.

This position is located in Frederick, MD; not Hagerstown. Remote work is available three days a week while the remaining two days must be onsite. CES is a Managed Service Provider evolving toward AI-driven service provider is seeking a Tier II Network & Systems Support Engineer to join our team. This role is responsible for resolving support tickets, maintaining client infrastructure, and supporting day-to-day operations across wireless networks, virtualized servers, firewalls/VPNs, and Microsoft 365 environments. You'll work closely with our Tier I team on escalations and our Tier III engineers on larger projects, making this a great growth path toward a senior engineering role.

Engineer will be required to be onsite at least two days a week. The remainder may be remote work. After one year of employment, there is a potential for full time remote work.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve escalated wireless networking issues (connectivity, access point configuration, coverage problems).
• Provision and maintain virtual machines within existing hypervisor environments.
• Apply and troubleshoot Fortinet firewall rule changes; monitor security alerts and elevate anomalies. Troubleshoot and maintain existing site-to-site and remote-access VPN connections. Troubleshoot and maintain Microsoft 365 tenant issues.
• Established cybersecurity checklists and best practices; respond to and elevate security alerts. Serve as the escalation point for Tier I technicians on tickets beyond initial troubleshooting scope.
• Assist Tier III engineers on larger infrastructure or migration projects as needed.

Requirements

• 1 year of hands-on experience in networking, systems administration, or MSP support
• Working knowledge of wireless networking troubleshooting. Experience provisioning/maintaining VMs in a hypervisor environment (e.g., Hyper-V, VMware, or similar).
• Familiarity with Fortigate or similar firewall platforms.
• Experience supporting VPN connections (site-to-site and/or remote access).
• General cybersecurity awareness and ability to follow security best practices.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently on moderately complex issues. Good communication skills for client-facing support interactions.
• MSP or multi-client environment experience a plus.
