Job summary

Stamford Health is hiring a Fulltime Throughput RN to support hospital throughput and patient-centered care. The role emphasizes timely admission/discharge processes, collaboration with the care team, and ensuring patient safety within state and federal guidelines.

The Throughput RN will supervise non‑RN staff, act as a preceptor, and lead efforts to maintain high-quality care across units. A CT RN license and BSN are preferred, with required BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Valid Connecticut RN license.
• BSN strongly preferred.
• Certifications – BLS, ACLS, NIHSS REQUIRED
• Maintain minimum of 6 contact hours annually
• At least 2 years of acute care nursing experience

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care in assigned unit
• Supports admission and discharge processes to aid throughput
• Assists with procedures such as phlebotomy or IV management as needed
• Coordinates care using the Nursing Process and standards of practice
• Supervises non‑RN staff and serves as a resource on the unit
• Precepts new staff and students as requested
• Maintains patient safety and confidentiality
• Communicates effectively with health care team and families
• Participates in performance improvement and regulatory readiness activities
