Job summary

The Salvation Army Soldotna Thrift Store seeks an Assistant Thrift Store Manager to assist the Thrift Store Manager in planning, organizing, and supervising daily store operations.

You will oversee merchandising, customer service, donations processing, cash handling, and staff scheduling, ensuring compliance with safety and company policies. This is a full-time, non-exempt position based at the Soldotna Thrift Store.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• One (1) year of supervisory experience in a retail operation or equivalent structured environment, with display and marketing experience preferred.
• Ability to operate a cash register and handle monetary transactions.
• Knowledge of general office equipment to include telephone, computer, copier, fax machine, and calculator.
• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; be responsible, well organized, and dependable.
• Must be bondable and have an acceptable criminal history and driving record.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, structure, and supervise daily thrift store operations.
• Ensure merchandising and sales efforts are carried out efficiently and courteously.
• Supervise staff and delegate duties to ensure coverage at all times.
• Manage receipt of donations and fill out donation receipts.
• Maintain cash register operations, ring in sales, and verify card transactions.
• Coordinate safety procedures and report accidents or hazards.
• Maintain store cleanliness and confidentiality of information.
