Role Description

The Thrift Store Manager is a full-time, on-site role located in Boerne, TX. This role oversees daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, managing inventory, organizing merchandise, and maintaining a clean, welcoming shopping environment. The Thrift Store Manager supervises and schedules staff and volunteers, provides ongoing coaching, and ensures outstanding customer service that reflects KCWS values. Responsibilities include monitoring sales performance, implementing retail loss prevention practices, managing cash handling and reporting, and coordinating donations and community outreach. The Thrift Store Manager collaborates with KCWS leadership to align store activities with the organization’s mission and revenue goals.

Qualifications
  • Strong Customer Service and Customer Satisfaction skills, with a commitment to creating a positive experience for shoppers, donors, and volunteers.
  • Effective Communication skills, including the ability to interact respectfully with diverse community members and collaborate with staff and leadership.
  • Experience in Store Management, including staffing, scheduling, inventory oversight, merchandising, and basic retail operations.
  • Knowledge of Retail Loss Prevention practices, including cash handling, risk awareness, and adherence to store policies and procedures.
  • Prior retail or thrift store experience, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment.
  • Ability to lift and move merchandise, stand for extended periods, and perform other physical tasks associated with retail work.
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in retail management or nonprofit administration is a plus.
