Job summary

The Salvation Army Salinas Thrift Store is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to lead day-to-day operations, support supervision of team members, and drive store performance in a fast-paced retail environment. This role requires strong customer service, teamwork, and effective communication with donors and staff.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma, 2 years of retail management experience, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent REQUIRED.
Minimum of 2 years Retail Management/Supervisory experience (thrift preferred).
Basic understanding of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Must hold a valid Driver's license, pass MVR, provide insurance, access to vehicle.
Must pass background check including Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry.
Ability to communicate effectively with management, store employees, customers and donors.

Responsibilities

Assist Store Manager in day-to-day store operations, including opening/closing procedures and POS operations.
In the absence of the Store Manager, oversee personnel and cash handling duties.
Monitor KPIs to drive store sales and profitability as budgeted.
Schedule staff and coordinate daily meetings; manage payroll records.
Assist with hiring, training and coaching the store team.
Communicate personnel issues and performance results with the Store Manager and HR as needed.
Ensure high levels of customer and donor satisfaction and safety.
Support Back Room Processing and ARC program needs as required.
Maintain security of currency, inventory and store property; ensure after-hours security.
