Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern California in Salinas is seeking an Assistant Store Manager for our thrift store. Pay rate is $18.40 per hour and candidates should have strong retail leadership experience to guide staff and Beneficiaries.

You will oversee daily operations, assist with inventory, scheduling, customer service, and community relations, while supporting program participants in Work Therapy Assignments. The role requires a high school diploma and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent – REQUIRED.
• Minimum of 2 years retail management/supervisory experience.
• Basic MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) knowledge.
• Valid driver's license, pass MVR, access to vehicle.
• Pass background check (criminal history and Sex Offender Registry).
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, store employees, customers and donors.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in daily operations including POS, inventory, and donations.
• Open/close store when required and manage payroll and scheduling.
• Monitor KPIs to drive sales and profitability per budgets.
• Coordinate training, performance coaching and discipline as needed.
• Ensure customer and donor satisfaction and maintain community relations.
• Support Back Room Processing and security of funds and inventory.
• Occasionally transfer to other stores as needed.
