Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern California is seeking an Assistant Manager to support the Store Manager in meeting daily goals, mentoring staff, merchandising, production, customer service, and sales in a clean, organized thrift-store setting.

When the Store Manager is off-site, the Assistant Manager oversees all daily activities, cross-trains in other departments, and ensures cash handling, scheduling, and safety procedures are followed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Three years of demonstrated experience in a retail environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience with cash controls and cashier procedures.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare work schedules.
• Train new employees and volunteers.
• Demonstrate courtesy and integrity in leadership and interaction with staff, donors, and customers.
• Motivate, develop and direct people, and conduct regular staff meetings.
• Ensure safety policies and procedures are followed and assist in other departments as needed.
