Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Western Territory is seeking an Assistant Store Manager for the Glendale thrift store. You will partner with the Store Manager to run day-to-day operations, manage staff, and ensure excellent customer and donor service in a high-volume volunteer-driven environment.

Key duties include scheduling, payroll oversight, KPI monitoring, training, and keeping the facility secure and compliant.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years retail management/supervisory experience.
• Proficient in MS Office applications.
• Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
• Pass background check (criminal history and sex offender registry).
• Strong communication with management, staff, customers, and donors.

Responsibilities

• Takes an active role and partners with the Store Manager in the day-to-day operation of the store—opening/closing, POS, inventory, donations.
• Assumes day-to-day store operations in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Monitor and analyze KPIs to drive sales and profitability per budget/goals.
• Schedule staff to ensure coverage and coordinate daily meetings; manage payroll records.
• Assist in hiring, training, and directing store team; develop performance of staff.
• Communicate personnel issues and performance results with Store Manager; issue warnings or reports as needed.
• Ensure high levels of customer and donor satisfaction and develop strategies to improve service.
• BRP support to ensure warehouse staff meet daily processing goals.
• Supervise and report on program beneficiaries when work therapy is in place.
• Protect store currency, inventory, and property; maintain security.
• Ensure safety compliance and participate in weekly/monthly meetings.
• May transfer or be relocated to other stores as needed.
• Complete tasks assigned by District Sales Manager and Command Retail Directors.
